Biography

Tammy Walker Artist Statement

     I have always loved the way a picture can tell a story…even if it is just a small piece to a larger story. I painted and drew as a kid, but it was photography that first pulled me into a formal education in fine arts.  I was drawn to photography because of its natural ability to freeze a piece of the story for the viewer to guess what came before and what might come after the frame is shot. After receiving my degree in Fine Arts, I partnered 2 animation companies…one for profit and the other a non-profit organization…where I was able to continue exploring my passion with telling a story with pictures. While working within the animation companies, I began painting and altering our office furniture so that our workspace was fun and inviting. This experiment showed me that a story can be told many ways and on many different forms…from larger furniture pieces to small boxes that become gifts themselves. I love altering a normal, everyday object into a creative, interactive, and beautiful story teller.  I hope that each piece of art sparks the imagination of the viewer to wonder what came before and what might come after…
